2 children hurt in blast

JAMMU, Feb 26: Two children were injured in a suspected mine or shell explosion at village Azmabad, close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Mandi area of Poonch district today.
Reports said the children were playing near their house at village Azmabad when they stepped over either a mine or shell, leading to an explosions in which both of them were injured.
The injured have been identified as Wasim Akram, 10, son of Mohammad Akram and Tahir Rashid, 8, son of Abdul Rashid, both residents of village Azmabad.
Reports said police parties rushed to the spot and shifted the injured children to Sub District Hospital (SDH), Mandi from where they were referred to the District Hospital, Poonch.
Both had sustained multiple splinter injuries on their persons.
Police have registered a case in the blast for further investigations. SSP Poonch Jatinder Singh Johar said police was investigating nature of the blast.
