JAMMUU, Oct 12: A 2-day Dogri writers conference on ‘Patriotism in the Dogri Literature of 21st Century’ began today at the premises of the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL).
The conference by JKAACL was inaugurated in a traditional way with the presentation of Kud Dance by Shaptan Singh & Group.
At the outset, Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL, delivered a welcome address and expressed that writer are the face of society who represent the inner thoughts of the social fabric through their ink.
Padamshri Mohan Singh presented keynote address on Patriotism in the Dogri Literature of 21st Century.
Chief guest Prof Lalit Mangotra appreciated the selection of the topic for the conference which is appropriate in the present context.
In his presidential address, Padamshri N D Jamwal stressed upon the need to encourage new generation of writers to write on various aspects of socio themes.
Dr Shahnawaz, Editor Cum cultural Officer, JKAACL presented vote of thanks. The inaugural session was conducted by Reeta Khadyal, Editor Dogri, JKAACL.
After the inaugural session, paper reading session was organised in which Dr Om Goswami and Dr Padam Dev Singh presented their papers on “Patriotism in Dogri Poetry of 21st Century” and “Patriotism in Dogri short story of 21st Century”. The session was presided over by Mangal Das Dogra, renowned Dogri writer and Historian.
The paper reading session was followed by Short Story session in which Chaman Arora, Dr Om Vidyarthi, Sudesh Raj, Krishna Sharma “Prem” and Nirmal Vikram presented their stories. This session was presided over by Dr Om Goswami.
At the conclusion of the event, Light Dogri Music programme was presented by the renowned artists of Jammu and Kashmir like Dr Jasmeet Kour, Reeta Khadyal, Dr Ranjeet Singh Katoch and Apoorva Jamwal. They were equally supported by Darbari Lal on Tabla, Rakesh Anand on Flute, Kamal Shama on Dholak and Vicky Gill on Synth. The songs were composed by Ravi Sharma. Reeta Khadyal presented the vote of thanks. The event was conducted by Sahil Badyal.
