KATHUA, Dec 8: The two-day International Conference, hosted by Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial (GLDM) Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar concluded on a harmonious note by bringing together music enthusiasts, scholars, and practitioners from around the globe.
The Conference titled “Interdisciplinary Probabilities in Music” provided a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas and insights of music with all other academic disciplines. The Conference witnessed an impressive line-up of speakers and presenters including Pandit Vidhadhar Vyas (former Vice-Chancellor, Bhatkhande Institute of Music), Rakesh Minhas (DC Kathua), Prof Pankaj Mala Sharma from Punjab University Chandigarh, Prof Lawanya Kirti from Darbhanga (Bihar) and Prof Bharat Bhushan Sharma (former Principal, Higher Education Department, J&K), on first day.
The second day of the Conference also embraced a wide spectrum of speakers, experts and participants. Dr Arvind Jasrotia (Rector Kathua Campus) was chief guest and Prof Lalit Magotra (a prolific Dogri writer) was the guest of honour. After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, Dr Pragya Khanna (Principal of the College) presented a formal welcome address. She emphasized on the need of such collaborations to make a lasting impact on academics and society.
The second day also featured expert views by Prof Lawanya Kirti, Dr Bharat Bhushan Sharma and Dr Luca Moretti & Dr Lucia Oliva (eminent artists and choreographers from Muscat, Oman). A number of papers by the participants from different parts of the country were presented offline and also through online mode.
The proceedings of the Conference were handled by Prof Rakesh Sharma, Dr Arun Kumar and Prof Shapia Shameem. The Conference was also attended by principals of the adjoining colleges, participants from different regions, faculty and students of GLDM GDC Hiranagar. The programme ended with the phenomenal performances by students of the College.
