RAJOURI, Jan 19: Two-day Interdisciplinary National Conference on Recent Trends in Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences began today at Government P G College, Rajouri.
The inaugural session was chaired by Prof Javed Mussarat, Vice Chancellor, BGSB University, Rajouri and jointly presided over by Dr Ashfaq Zarri, Registrar, BGSB University Rajouri, Prof G M Malik, Dean, Students Welfare BGSBU, Dr J A Qazi, Principal, Government PG College Rajouri and Prof Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal, Government Degree College Mendhar.
The event started with Talavat-e-Quran by Dr Ahsan-Ur-Rehman followed by welcome address by Dr Javaid Ahmed Qazi who highlighted phenomenal achievements made by the College in the recent past and also presented his vision and objective of this conference. Dr Abdul Qayoom Khan (HoD Geography and convener of the Conference) presented introductory note on theme of the Conference.
The conference opened with a video lecture sent exclusively for this conference by father of green revolution in India, Prof MS Swaminathan who stressed upon the importance of research in variety of areas of concern.
Prof Javid Mussarat presented the key note address and extensively deliberated on the importance and scope of research especially in the Interdisciplinary areas.
The dignitaries also released the abstract book in the inaugural session. Inaugural session concluded with vote of thanks by Prof Anwer Shah (organizing secretary of the conference).
A large number of participants from various University/Colleges from in and outside the State presented the research papers of their disciplines.
The dignitaries who presided over the technical sessions were Dr GM Malik, Dr Asger Ali Shah, Dr M K Waqar, Dr Javaid Iqbal and Dr Pankaj Chandan. The internal faculty of the College presented were Dr Ashaq Raza, Prof Javed Mughal, Dr Bashir Ahmed, Prof Assadullha Khan, Dr Yash Paul Sharma, Dr Mohd Saleem Wani, Prof Manzoor Dar, Prof Asif Lone, Prof ZA Mirza, Rakesh Puri and Prof Amit Bhalla.
The event was compeered on stage by Prof M Iqbal Raina.
