REASI, June 17: Continuing its drive against illicit liquor and narcotic substances, Reasi Police arrested two drug peddlers and five bootleggers after series of raids at different locations across the district.
During surprise naka checking at Jamslan road connecting Mahore area with Ramban, team of Police Station Mahore intercepted notorious drug peddler Shafiq Ahmed son of Abdul Jabbar of Dhamni Chassana from Jamslan Mahore and recovered 1.04 kgs of cannabis like substance from his possession. In this regard case FIR number 35/2021, under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Mahore.
In Katra, Police team raided house of notorious drug peddler Karamat Ali son of Saif Ali of Paroh Katra and recovered 100 grams of cannabis from the house. Accused Karamat Ali had already been arrested on June 13 in Case FIR number 102/2021, under section 8/20, NDPS Act of Police Station Katra in case of drug peddling.
Meanwhile teams of Reasi Police conducted series of raids and arrested five bootleggers red handed. All of them have been booked under Excise Act while ten liters of hooch was seized and 35 litres of lahan was destroyed on the spot.
The arrested accused were identified as Sanjay Kumar son of Ram Lal of Ward number 9 Katla, tehsil Pouni, Sham Lal son of Jagdish Raj of Kotla, Shoshi Kumar son of Panshu Ram of Dadowa Pouni, Prem Singh son of Durga Dass and his mother Nanki Devi of Dhansal.
