2 drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw

RAMBAN, Aug 26: Batote police arrested two drug peddlers along with 13.5 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Batote police station laid a naka near Nashri tunnel and intercepted a mini-bus bearing registration number JK06-0920 coming from Ramban towards Batote.
During checking, police recovered 13.5 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of two persons traveling in the mini-bus and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Tanver Ahmed, son of Bashir Hussian, a resident of Champa Batote and Mohammad Mushtaq, son of Din Mohammad Khan of Chanderkote.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Batote police station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Vijay Choudhary made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Imtiyaz Ahmed, Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
