RAJOURI, June 1: In a major success, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team from Jammu, with the help of BSF’s G Branch, arrested two narcotic smugglers near Line of Control area and recovered 2.04 kg heroin from their possession

The arrest was made in Chingus area on the Rajouri Jammu Highway and the recovered consignment of heroin was smuggled from across the border. Both the accused were earlier working as porter with the Indian Army.
According to reports, the NCB had specific information that a resident of Rajouri’s Chitti Bakri area adjacent to the Line of Control, was coming to supply a consignment of heroin from across the border in Rajouri, along with another former porter and resident of Thandikassi in Rajouri.
The NCB team, with the help of BSF’s G Branch, raided a suspicious place in Rajouri’s Chingus and nabbed both the smugglers. On search, 2.04 kg heroin was confiscated from their possession.
Sources said that both the smugglers, identified as Sajad Hussain, son of Munir Hussain, resident of Thandikassi Rajouri and Mohammad Anwar, son of Fateh Mohammad, resident of Chitti Bakri, used to work as porters with the Army earlier and due to their suspicious activities, the Army had disengaged both of them.
Pertinent to mention that cases of drug and arms smuggling besides infiltration have been reported from Chitti Bakri area earlier also. Sources said that efforts were being made to trace other associates of the accused smugglers by interrogating them.
