2 held for smuggling bovines

KATHUA, May 16: Kathua Police has rescued two bovine animals at Ward Number 10 Rajbagh during a naka today and arrested two smugglers in this regard.
Acting on a specific information a team of Kathua police headed by Inspector Anil Kumar Sharma, SHO PS Kathua, laid down a naka at Ward No. 10 Rajbagh Kathua, and intercepted one Mahindra Load Carrier bearing registration No. JK02BH-7486 loaded with bovine animals.
The vehicle was on way from Punjab towards J&K. During search of the vehicle, two bovine animals were rescued and the accused persons namely Mohd. Akhter S/o Abdul Karim R/o Dharamkund tehsil and district Ramban A/P Bathindi, Jammu and Lekh Raj S/o Sukhdev Mitter R/o W.No. 13 Kathua were arrested.
In this regard a Case FIR No. 151/2017 U/S 188 RPC stands registered at P/S Kathua and investigation into the matter is in progress to nab the nexus of bovine smugglers.
The drive was carried out under the supervision of S.S. Sambyal, DySP Hqrs. Kathua and overall supervision of Mohd. Suleman Choudhary, SSP Kathua.
