2 killed, 6 hurt in mishap

RAJOURI, Mar 27: Two person were killed while six others injured when a Tata Magic- light passenger vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Thannamandi area this evening.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place at around 6.30 pm when ill-fated vehicle No. JK-11/7224 was on its way to Nerojal from Rajouri town. Eight passengers were onboard. As the vehicle reached near Tarpai bridge, just closer to its destination, the driver lost control at a curve  and the vehicle landed into 50 feet deep rocky- gorge. The driver jumped away from the moving vehicle and escaped.
The people came to know about the mishap and rushed for rescue. The police party also reached there. While one was killed on the spot the second succumbed while being shifted to hospital. The  deceased were identified as Qari Manzoor (35), son of Abdul Ghani and Talib Hussain, son of Nassar Din of Sain Samad.
The six injured persons were  admitted to District Hospital Rajouri. They are identified as Lal Din (60) and his brother  Nazir Hussain, sons Fakhar Din of Fatehpur, Zaffar Iqbal (25), son of Mohd Iqbal of Dudasan Pain, Zakir Hussain (35), son of Ghulam Nabi of Sain Samad, Shamim Akhtar (40), wife of Azam Shah, her son Ghulam Rasool (18), son of Azam Shah, residents of Sain Samad. The police has registered a case and started search for the driver.
