2 Punjab residents arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, Jan 18: Panjtirthi police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ launched by SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta arrested two persons hailing from Punjab and recovered 30 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Panjtirthi Police Post intercepted a passenger vehicle bearing registration number JK02AB-1408.
During checking, police recovered 30 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of two persons travelling in the vehicle and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Jagjeet Singh, son of Sukhdev Singh and Akashdeep, son of Tarshem Singh, both residents of Jigran, district Ludhiana, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 10/18 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them at Police Station Pacca Danga and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by Incharge Panjtirthi Police Post SI Ajay Kumar Engotra made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Pacca Danga Sl Dheeraj Nagpal, SDPO City Varun Jandial and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
