2 sisters die after vaccination

RAJOURI, July 18: Two children (both sisters) died under mysterious circumstances at a village after vaccination in local Government hospital, in Sunderbani area of district Rajouri during early hours today.
Official sources said that according to parents of the children, 18 months old Asreen and 4 months old Mahira, daughters of Mohd Idrees, resident of Nallah, near Makol, in Sunderbani had taken both the children for vaccination to local Health Sub Centre on Wednesday. They were vaccinated by the staff and brought back. Their health/ vaccination cards have also been prepared by the Health authorities.
The children slept after taking milk in the evening. But in the morning both the children were found dead on the bed. The neighbourers and people from entire village assembled at their house after coming to know about the matter. Sunderbani police was informed about the matter. They alleged that due to wrong vaccination or expired medicine, they have died.
The bodies of both the children were shifted to Sunderbani hospital. CMO Rajouri sent DyCMO who constituted Medical Board for conducting postmortem of the bodies of both the girls. Later, the report was sent to Forensic Lab in Jammu.
The police said that a case has been registered in this connection for investigation. The DyCMO said that the same vaccination was provided to the other children of the area as well. They all are normal. The things would be clear after postmortem report is received, he said.
