POONCH, Oct 9: The police has booked at least 20 persons for attack on police and causing serious injuries to SHO and about nine other cops in Surankote.
Official sources said that the Surankote police registered two separate FIRs in connection with the attack on police party by some villagers at Potha when police party went there to arrest a rape and murder accused. They said another FIR was registered against people who resorted to stone pelting on police at Potha on Jammu-Poonch highway on Thursday and creating violence. The accused named in the FIRs will be arrested shortly.
It may be recalled that SHO Surankote Charanjeet Singh and nine others cops were injured in attack on Thursday. Two police men were referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu for head injuries. The villagers/ relatives helped in protecting alleged criminal who escaped from custody about two weeks back.
