20 residential quarters reduced to ashes

RAMBAN, May 5: Twenty residential quarters were gutted in a devastating fire in Chanderkote area here this evening.
As per police sources, fire broke out in a residential quarter of JP Associates at Chanderkote this evening.
However, the fire spread to nearby quarters before the fire tenders could reach there.
On getting information, Police team from Chanderkote police station reached the spot. SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar was also present during the fire extinguishing operation.
The fire tenders from Batote and Ramban fire service stations along with fire fighters were rushed to the spot besides help from the Army was sought to douse the leaping flames, which could be seen at a distance.
After hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control, but till then around 24 residential quarters were reduced to ashes.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet. The cause of fire was not known.
A case in this regard has been registered at Chanderkote police station and investigation started.
It is to mention here that, JP Associates is engaged for civil works at Baglihar Hydro Power Project, Chanderkote.
