JAMMU, Aug 3: Over 2000 yatris paid obeisance to Ice Lingam in holy cave situated in Lidder Valley in South Kashmir district of Anantnag at an altitude of 14000 feet from sea level on day 37 of yatra today.
According to an official spokesman 2,129 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave today from both shortest Baltal and traditional Chandanwari tracks.
The spokesman said with this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance in holy cave so far has touched 3,62,632.
He said the weather enroute to holy cave was pleasant throughout the day and pilgrimage went smoothly. He said total 997 pilgrims left from Baltal track to holy cave today and they included 367 pilgrims who left by chopper.
He said 544 pilgrims left from Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp early this morning for holy cave under tight security. Besides the pilgrims who had night halt at Sheshnag and Panchtarni also left for their onwards sojourn early this morning, he added.
Meanwhile a fresh batch of 269 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Jammu Yatri Niwas for holy cave early this morning under tight security measures. These yatris had reached their respective destinations in Kashmir Valley when last reports came in wherefrom they will leave for holy cave early tomorrow morning.
It may be recalled that 44-day long annual Amarnath pilgrimage is culminating on Sawan Purnima falling on August 10 when the holy mace will reach the cave shrine from Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar. The day is also coinciding with Raksha Bandan.
