UDHAMPUR/RAJOURI, June 4: The police seized 16 bovine animals in district Udhampur and six (6) in Rajouri during last night.
Giving detail a police official said that a Police party from Tikri Police Post led SI Jaswinder Choudhary laid a naka for checking of vehicles at Tikri naka point last night. During checking, police party signalled a truck bearing registration number JK09B / 0077 for checking.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, driver of the vehicle sped up and attempted to flee with the vehicle. The vehicle was chased by the police party and intercepted ahead. 16 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle without any valid permission. The accused driver namely- Tanveer Ahmed, son of Ghulam Hussain of Dudwan, Kupwara was arrested.
All the bovine animals were rescued and vehicle seized. A case stand registered at Rehambal Police Station and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, Rajouri police during naka at Breri on highway intercepted vehicle No. JK-12/ 3831 during early hours today and rescued six bovine animals. Driver of the vehicle managed to flee. A case has been registered in this connection.
