JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Chaudhary today informed the house that work on 224 Water Supply Schemes (WSS) is going on in Doda and Ramban districts taken up under NABARD and other programmes.
Replying to a question by Sham Lal Bhagat, the Minister informed that habitations between Dadhuban to Mundar via Khatti in Panchayat Lower Mundar are being covered under ongoing WSS funded under NABARD. He said the habitations between Dugadoo to Marsoo in Panchayat Kuthiayara are proposed to be covered under the WSS Marsoo. Similarly, Thopal area is set to be covered under new WSS proposed for the area. He said the DPRs of these schemes have been formulated and are under technical scrutiny.
Responding to the queries about utilization of Soni Nallah, The Minister said that this source is at a lower contour with low discharge and cannot be tapped to provide water facility to Galla-Dhar.
He, however, said that the habitations between Soni Nallah to Bateen/Aahrein via Shamthi are being covered under ongoing Topneel scheme for which local springs provide the source of water.
The Minister said the Bagoori area stands covered under WSS Mundhar , while Gagla village is yet to be covered due to a dispute over the water source.
The PHE Minister further informed that 11 WSSs have been repaired and are functioning properly in the area. He said9 WSS have been taken up under NRDWP/NABARD for improvement/augmentation of water supply to Assar, Kastigarh and Rajgarh blocks.
Responding to the supplementary by Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, Naresh Kumar and Sofi Yousuf, the Minister said that appropriate steps are being taken to overcome the water crisis in Chenab region districts. He said the old pipes wherever required are being also replaced in the area.
He said Aru WSS in Pahalgam would be completed in stipulated time.
