UDHAMPUR, July 9: Foiling two attempts of bovine smuggling in Udhampur district, Police today rescued 23 animals and arrested 4 smugglers.
According to reports, a Police team, led SHO Udhampur Arjun Singh Chib, laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk and intercepted a truck in which 13 bovine animals were being smuggled to Kashmir. Police rescued the animals and arrested three smugglers, who were identified as Mohd Bishu of Maralia Jammu, Mohd Ishtan of Sumbh Samba and Javed Ahmed of Anantnag Kashmir.
In another success, Majalta Police seized a truck and recovered 10 bovine animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir from Kathua. The accused smuggler, identified as Ashkoor of Tanghdhar Kupwara, was also arrested.
