JAMMU, Dec 1: The Cycling Association of Jammu and Kashmir (CAJK) has sponsored 23 cyclists, including 18 men and 5 women, to represent the Union Territory at the 29th National Road Cycling Championship, scheduled to be held from December 7 to 10 in Puri, Odisha.
The selected cyclists were put through a screening process at MA Stadium Jammu, conducted under the supervision of Baljinder Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, and Dr. Jagandeep Singh, physiotherapist, along with Kirpali Singh, Chief Gymnastics Coach of the J&K Sports Council.
The team comprised cyclists from various age categories, including senior, U-23, U-18, U-16, and U-14 levels. Key players include Waheed Ahmad, Adil Teli, Bilal Ahmad, Dr. Mohd Akbar, Adnan Bashir, Sunil Kumar, Tajmal Rashid, Parnav Sharma, Jehangir, Sahil Sofi, and Inayat Rayaz, among others. The women’s team features prominent cyclists such as Uefat Mustaq, Souha Zahoor, Yumna Parvaiz, and Farah Ahad. Firdos Khan will represent the U-14 girls in the competition.
The team will be managed by Mashooq Maqbool, with Dr. Akbar Khan serving as the coach and Parvaiz Ahmad handling the technical aspects.
