24 bovines rescued, two vehicles seized

UDHAMPUR, May 7: Udhampur Police seized two vehicles and rescued 24 bovine animals. which were being smuggled to Kashmir last night.
During the intervening night of May 6-7, Police team led by SHO Chenani Charanjeet Singh, under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi, intercepted one truck bearing registration number JK02AS- 7981 , in which 18 bovines were being carried without any valid permission.
Police rescued the bovines and seized the truck. In this regard, FIR number 66/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Chenani and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Majalta, six bovines were rescued by the police party, headed by SHO Majalta Virender Gupta under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Dr Bhishm Dubey.
These bovines were being smuggled towards Valley in a vehicle bearing registration number JK14F- 0201. In this regard, case FIR number 29/2022 U/S 429 IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered in Police Station Majalta.
During the current year, 96 cases have been registered against bovine smuggling and 890 bovines have been rescued in district Udhampur.
