JAMMU, Apr 25: The Food Safety teams, under Department of Health today launched major operation against adulteration in Jammu, Srinagar, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur and Doda districts and drained about 2844 litres of sub-standard milk.
Official sources said that on the directions of Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, special 10-day drive was launched to check entry of adulterated milk to the cities and towns today. On the first day of the operation, nakas were laid at various places in Jammu city and its outskirts and entry points of other cities and towns by the Food Safety Inspectors and other staff and a total 2844 Ltrs of unwholesome/ adulterated milk was destroyed on the spot.
The spokesman said that teams will keep on changing their naka points and this statewide drive will go on initially for 10 days. He said that after this, the team would intensify drive at the outlets/ shops in the cities and towns.
