29 detained under PSA this year

Srinagar, Oct 8: Government today stated that 29 persons have been detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) from January 1 till September 28 this year.
In a written reply to MLC Showkat Hussain Ganie, the Minister Incharge Home stated that out of 29 persons detained under PSA, 9 are involved in militancy related activities.
As per information provided by Home Department, the nine detainees have been held for militancy that include 2 militants from Kupwara and Anantnag districts while 7 others are Over Ground Workers (OGWs) from Shopian (4), Kulgam (1), Anantnag (1) and Baramulla (1).
Besides, three separatists from Srinagar have also been detained under PSA while 2 stone-pelters from Bandipora and another from Shopian are also among the detainees.
Further information provided by the Home Department reveals that drug peddlers from Rajouri (2), Baramulla (2), Bandipora (3) and Pulwama (2) have also been also detained under PSA. Also, 5 habitual criminals that include 4 from Jammu and one from Anantnag detained under PSA.
