KARGIL, Apr 14: The 2nd Annual Mega Sports Meet 2025, organized by Pairwan-e-Wilayat, culminated at the scenic Goma Kargil Ground, celebrating sportsmanship, youth engagement and community spirit under the theme “Play with Heart, for Heart.”
The event witnessed vibrant participation from all local mohallas, including Gangshan, Yangti, Brokgroung, Yabgo, Hatoo, Hassan Abad, Medar, Gurba, Dox and Zothpa. Competitions ranged from inter-mohallah events like Tug of War and Lagori to individual athletics such as the 100m Race, Shotput, and Javelin Throw.
Councillor Town Haji Abbass Adulpa graced the occasion as Chief Guest, with Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil and Joint Director Information UT Ladakh, Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho, attending as Guest of Honour.
In his address, Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho commended the initiative of transforming a mountain slope into a sports ground, envisioning its development into a full-fledged stadium. He also recommended cultural festivals like “Chuli Mendok” to promote the region’s beauty.
Dr. Mohd Ali, representing Pairwan-e-Wilayat, submitted a memorandum requesting stadium expansion, floodlights, a children’s play area, and an ice hockey rink. Responding to the demands, Haji Abbass Adulpa confirmed that stadium development has been approved and assured support for remaining proposals. As part of his youth development vision, he announced future career counselling sessions.
Mohalla Gangshan emerged as overall champions, winning both Tug of War and Lagori. The event concluded with medal distribution and mementos to dignitaries, officials, and media personnel, marking a day of unity, inspiration, and celebration.
