JAMMU, Dec 26: The 2nd J&K UT Cross Country Athletics Championships was held at M A Stadium, here today.
Around 200 men and women, boys and girls from all over the Union Territory participated in the championship. The competitions were held in Under-16, Under-18, Under-20 and Open Categories.
In Boys Under-20 (8 km), Ritika Sharma won gold, Adetya Singh bagged silver and Vishal Sharma got bronze where as in Open Men (10 km), Ravi Dass bagged gold, Suleman got silver and Kubir Singh won bronze.
Sunnay Sharma won gold, Ajay bagged silver and Umer Mohi-ud-din got bronze in Under-16 Boys (2 km) while as Zubiya Tariq won gold, Sonali Sharma got silver and Shabina Akther got bronze in Under-16 Girls (2 km).
In Under-18 Girls (4 km), Sakshi Thakur won gold, Sara got silver and Anjali Rajput bagged bronze whereas in Under-20 Girls (6 km), Shivani Thakur bagged gold, Kanchan Bharti got silver and Kiran Chib won bronze.
Mohd Aaqib won gold, Parveen Kumar got silver and Lakhbir bagged bronze in Under-18 Boys (6 km) whileas Mamta Sharma bagged gold, Fanja Devi got silver and Anjali won bronze in Open Girls (10 km).
The prize distribution ceremony was also held at M A Stadium and medals and certificates were awarded to the winners by Suneel Mahajan (president) and Sharat Chander Singh (secretary, J&K Amateur Athletics Association) in presence of Vinod Bhatia, Nirmal Singh, Chamail Singh, Rakesh Singh Charak, Parveen Kumar, Mandeep Kour, Pawandeep Kour and Reyaz Ahmad.
The selected athletes will participate in forthcoming National Cross Country Championship to be held in Bihar on 8th January, 2023.
