2nd Martyr Abdul Rehman Memorial T20 Cricket tournament concludes

RAMBAN, May 7: Sajan Cricket Club (SCC), Chandrog won the 2nd  Intra District Abdul Rehman T20 Cricket tournament by defeating the Maligam Cricket Club(MCC) by 23 runs at District Police Lines here today.
The chief guest MLA,Ramban,Neelam Kumar Langeh accompanied by the SSP,Ramban Randeep Kumar was introduced to the players of both the playing teams.
Chasing  75,the MCC were all out at 53 in the last over.Bowler Gulzar Ahmed of SCC got a hatrick today. Arshad Katoch of MCC was declared as Man of the Match and the Best  Batsman,Imran Malik of SCC  as the Man of the Series and Adnan Ganai  of MCC as the Best Bowler. The tournament was started on March 27 which was interrupted by the rains and the unavailability of the ground. The winners won Rs.15,500 and the runners up Rs.8,000 which included Rs 1000 and Rs 500 respectively given by the MLA,Ramban, Neelam Langeh.
As many as 37 teams from across the Ramban district participated in the tournament organized by Akhter Abbas Naik,president, Peer Panchal Youth Sports & Welfare Association in collaboration with the J&K Police in the memory of the first martyr of the district,Head Constable, Abdul Rehman Malik. Malik was martyred when he was shot dead by the ambushing militants at grid station near the Banihal police station in 1991.
Speaking on the occasion, Langeh exhorted the youth to indulge in sports to distract from the social evils like drug addiction besides keeping themselves fit and active.
