2nd round matches held in Annual Silver Rolling Volleyball C’ship

UDHAMPUR, Feb 23: On the third day of the 1st State Level Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Championships (for men and women) for the Annual Silver Rolling Volleyball Trophies instituted by Governor of J&K State, N N Vohra in Govt Degree College Udhampur  12 matches in men’s category were played, while the matches in women’s section will be played tomorrow.
In the matches of the second round, GDC Ganderbal drubbed GDC Samba by 2-1; Govt College of Education Jammu defeated GDC Sopore by 2-0; GGM Science College Jammu trounced GDC Kulgam by 2-0; MAM College Jammu beat SP College Srinagar by 2-0; New Age College Phinter outplayed GDC Kilhotran by 2-0; SPMR College of Commerce got better of GDC Baramulla by 2-0 and GDC Udhampur drubbed Bhaskar College of Education by 2-0.
However GDC Anantnag got a walk over in this round.
Later, in the quarterfinals, GGM Science College trounced Govt MAM College Jammu by 3-0; GDC Udhampur trounced Govt College of Education Jammu by 3-0; GDC Ganderbal defeated GDC Anantnag by 3-0 and New Age College Phinter  beat SPMR College of Commerce by 3-0.
The matches were officiated by Amit Sharma, Sanjeev Verma, Sanjay Sharma, Ajeet Singh, Kuldeep Sharma, Naveen Sharma, Suresh Paul, Push Sharma, Raman Sharma, Shashi Sharma, Manik Nargotra, Rakesh, Sanjeev Kumar and Vishal Gupta. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr S K Magotra, Dr Udey Bhanu, Dr Sanjay Verma, Dr B A Dar, Prof Sudhir Singh, Prof Suresh Dogra, Prof Kamal Kishore, Prof Sanjay Kumar, Prof Ramesh Chander, Dr Ranjot Singh, Dr Ajay,  Prof Samosh  and Vijay Gupta.
The semifinal matches of both men and women categories will be played tomorrow.
