JAMMU, May 16: 2nd Vishal Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship 2015-16, being organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Taekwondo Association got underway at Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Parade, here.
The Championship is being held under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association, Indian Olympics Association and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India.
Around 800 players/officials are participating in this Championship and players from the entire State have come to showcase their skills.
The chief guest of the opening ceremony was Chander Mohan Sharma, Senior BJP leader and chairman of Tawi Bachao Andolan, who while speaking on the occasion assured to provide help to sports and games which uplift the calibre of an individual.
PC Sharma, president JKTA and D N Pangotra, General Secretary JKTA were the guests of honour, while Ramesh Sharma, Manager Brahmin Sabha, Shiv Ram Sharma and Shalinder Sharma were the special guests.
The technical team is being headed by Sanjay Kumar, Rajat Thakur (National Referees) with his team of officials including Mukta Gupta, Rohit Sharma, Rahul Singh Chib, Sunil Singh, Rajan, Zaheer Abbas Khan, Shazia Batool, Shenaz Parveen, Arvind Kumar Satti, Pankaj Kumar, Narinder Sharma, Nitish Anand, Vipan Sharma and Balvinder Singh.The Championship was organized under the chairmanship of Anuj Sharma and Gurinder Singh Rakwal is Convener of the Championship.
The Championship is being hosted by Rajinder Singh.
The gold medal winners included Ishita Sawhney, Riya, Gurpreet Kour, Vasundra Sharma, Vanshika Langeh, Vanshita, Kohina Chib, Anamika Sharma, Urja Bakshi, Arisha Sharma, Neha Jaral, Shefali Attri, Aanima Sharma, Heena Devi, Mansi Lalotra, Vaibhavi Abrol, Mehak Sharma, Gauri Khajuria, Harnoor Singh, Neelanjan Singh, Gurvinder, Vishesh Salaria, Arshpreet Singh, Arun Sharma, Nikhil Chib, Achujam Dev Singh, Varun Mehra, Shubham Singh Jamwal, Rahul Choudhary, Harshjeet Singh, Raghu Nandan Sharma, Akashdeep Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Vaibhav Abrol, Ayush Badyal, Rohit Kumar and Ruder Partap Singh.
