JAMMU, May 17: Second Vishal Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship 2015, organized by the Jammu Kashmir Taekwondo Association, concluded at Dogra Brahman Pratinidi Sabha, Parade, here today.
The Championship was held under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India, recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association, Indian Olympic Association and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport, Govt. of India
This Championship was organized in the memory of Late Vishal Sharma, the founder of all martial Arts in J&K. His Children Yuvraj, Sidhant and Krishna were also present on the occasion.
Around 800 players /officials participated in this Championship to vie for the top honours.
Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East was the chief guest on the occasion, while Chander Mohan Sharma, senior BJP leader and chairman of Tawi Bacchao Andalon was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the guest of honour distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion. He also declared the championship closed.
The Technical team was headed by Sanjay Kumar and Rajat Thakur (National Referees) and the members included Mukta Gupta, Rahul Singh Chib, Sunil Singh, Pankaj Kumar, Nariender Sharma, Nitish Anand, Vipen Sharma and Balvinder Singh. The Championship was organized under the Chairmanship of Anuj Sharma and Convener was Gurinder Singh Rakwal. The Championship was conducted by Sumit Chauhan and Rajinder Singh.
BSF Ankur Playway School emerged the overall Champions in Mini Boys group, while the overall Champions in Sub Jr boys was CRPF Kids Club and in Sub Jr girls Rakwal Taekwondo Club emerged overall Champion. The overall Champions in Jr boys group was District Kathua, while the overall Champions in Jr girls group was Humanity Public School, Vijaypur.
Vishal Academy of Taekwondo won the overall trophy.
