3-day District Wushu Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Nov 25: 3-day District Wushu Championship got underway at MA Stadium, here today.
Around 400 participants from different schools and clubs are participating in the Championship, which is being organized by the District Jammu Wushu Association at Indoor complex, here.
The Championship was declared open by Kuldeep Handoo, Chief Wushu Coach of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Handoo advised the sportspersons to take part in sports and avoid bad habits.
He said sports and games apart from many other positive things help youth not to derail from the mainstream.
While congratulating Bhanu Partap Singh and Rajinder Singh for winning silver medal in the World Cup and Asian Championship respectively, Mr Handoo asked them to be the role model for the budding sportspersons so that they too will earn name and fame for the State and the Country as well.
He appealed the Government for providing infrastructural facilities to this medal winning and priority sports discipline in the State.
Prominent among others present in the opening ceremony were International medallists Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Rajinder Singh, besides  Ajay Paul Singh, Arun Singh, Lalit Singh, Ashi Jamwal, Kalyani (SAI Coach) , Sheetal, Ruchi and Mukesh Sharma.
In Under -3 Years Boys, the winners included Nawang, Parth, Aarav Saini and Harman Singh, , while in below 15 kg boys (5 Years), the winners included Atharv, Sashant, Aryan and Antirksh.
In below 20 kg boys (5 Years0, the winners included Youvraj, Rabjot, Manyvar and Sakhsham, while in below 24 kg, Harjash Singh, Shivanshu, Harmanjot and Adhant were the winners and in below 30 kg girls, Shika, Parjna Gupta, Saloni and Shivani emerged as winners.
In below 56 kg (girls), Aqsa Malik, Tehzeeb Javed, Abhigya Gupta and Amodhini Gupta, while in below 42 kg girls, Mehak Gupta, Shreya Balgotra, Riya and Jyoti were the winners.
