3-day Handball Championship commences at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: Three days District Handball Championship, being organised by Udhampur District Handball Association commenced at Mini Stadium, here today.
The Championship is being organized by the District Handball Association Udha-mpur, under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association, under the patronage of Dr S M Bali, president J&K Handball Association and under the chairmanship of Ashwani Kumar Raina, general secretary J&K Handball Association and under the supervision of Sh. Ashok Kumar, President, Sh. Ravi Singh Jaswal, General Secretary and Sh. Vipin Photra Organizing Secretary of District Udhampur Handball Association.
Arjun Singh Chib, SHO Udhmapur was the chief guest on the occasion while Sudesh Kumar Chalotra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur was the special guest on the opening ceremony.
About 120 players of the 12 different Handball clubs of the district Udhampur are participating in the tournament.
Among others who were present on the occasion were Raj Guru, president Volleyball Association District Udhampur, Vikram Singh Salathia, chairman Devika Urban Bank, Arun Mehta, Satish Kumar, Vinod Kumar (all national players) and Suresh Khajuria, District president Badminton Association of Udhampur
The matches were officiated by Rishi Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Sourabh Pandit, Ajit Singh, Manmeet Singh and Sanjay Kumar.
The exhibition match in men’s section was played between Braham Rishi Bawra Red and Braham Rishi Bawra Blue in which Braham Rishi Bawra Red defeated Braham Rishi Bawra Blue by (12-8) goals. Soujanya Vaid and Manash were the top scorers of the match.
In Women section, K.C Club defeated Nehru Club by (6-3) goals, Shatakshi and Arushi played well in the match.
In second match, Jaganoo Handball Club defeated Nehru Handball Club-2 by (7-6) goals.
