REASI, Jan 20: In its continued drive, Police today arrested three drug peddlers from separate areas and seized contraband from their possession.
A special patrolling team of PP Ban Ganga, apprehended one accused when he was coming from Katra towards Ban Ganga, carrying a bag in his hand. 50 gms Charas like substance was recovered from possession of the accused, identified as Mohan Lal , son of Bahadur Singh of Bhartund Chaka, Ramban. In this regard, a case FIR No 14/2019 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at PS Katra. According to Police, the said accused was a notorious drug dealer and had come to Katra town for striking a drug deal.
Another drug peddler was apprehended during a special naka at Domail, Pouni when he was coming from Bharakh (Pouni ) and carrying 7.5 kgs of poppy straw in a sack on his back.
The accused was identified as Zahoor Ahmed son of Mohammad Ashraf of Kokernag, Anantnag. A case FIR number 8/2019 U/S 8/15/ NDPS Act was registered in this connection at Police Station Pouni.
Third accused was intercepted during naka checking at Simbal Chowa, under the jurisdiction of Reasi Police Station, when he was coming from Dera Baba . Even as the accused made an attempt to escape from the spot, Police overpowered him and recovered 670 gms of poppy straw from his possession.
Police seized the contraband and arrested the accused, who was identified as Mohd Iqbal, son of Haji Abdul Gani of Bhabar Rasalayan, Reasi. In this regard, a case FIR No. 9/2019 U/S 8/15/ NDPS Act has been registered at PS Reasi.
