3 killed, 20 hurt in mishaps

Srinagar, June 25: In a tragic road mishap on the National Highway in South Kashmir, three people, including two women and a child, were killed and 20 others injured last night when a bus carrying picnic party overturned.
A mini bus, bearing registration number JK03A-8336 carrying passengers from Choch village of Kulgam district who were returning from a picnic from tourist resort of Gulmurg, skidded off the road and fell into a canal at Sangam last night.
Three persons who died in this accident were identified as Shaheena Akhter wife of Fayaz Ahmad, Nayeema wife of Abid Hussain and Irfan Ahamd Bhat residents of Choch, Kulgam.
All the injured have been shifted to Bijbehara and Anantnag hospitals for treatment. The commuters who were travelling on the highway carried out rescue operation till police reached the spot. Some of the critically injured were shifted to Srinagar for treatment.
Meanwhile, a Maruti car JK03B/2942 and a Tavera vehicle JK03C/5718 collided at Hutmura in Mattan, Anantnag, resulting in injuries to Sheraza Begum and Mohammad Shareef Bhat of Hutmura. Both the injured have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.
In another accident, a passenger vehicle JK16/9681 and a motorcycle JK13/1632 collided near Peerbagh in Budgam, resulting in injuries to a pedestrian Umer Suhail of Parnewa Budgam. The injured has been shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment.
The spokesman said police has registered cases in these accidents.
