UDHAMPUR, May 5: In a major success against smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances, Udhampur Police today seized 302 kg of poppy straw and arrested the smuggler.
According to SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey, a Police party led by SHO Udhampur, Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur and Dr Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakhani, National Highway Udhampur and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB 08BL- 7976.
During checking, 302 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. The accused driver namely Jaswant Singh, son of Sobu Singh of Hazipur, Patiala, Punjab, was arrested on the spot while the recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle were seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 186/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.06
