JAMMU, Feb 19: The Wrestling Association of J&K will organize the 32nd Senior Men and 18th Women J&K-UT Wrestling Championship at the Jammu University Wrestling Hall on February 23. The championship will serve as a qualifier for the forthcoming Federation Cup, which is scheduled to be held at LPU, Punjab, from March 8 & 9.
The winners in each weight category will have the opportunity to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the Federation Cup. The opening ceremony likely to be attended by Satish Sharma, Minister of Youth Services & Sports, J&K, while the closing ceremony will be attended by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the chief Minister of J&K.
The event is being organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, under the auspices of the Wrestling Federation of India, J&K Olympic Association, and J&K Sports Council.
Organisers said all wrestlers from J&K-UT, both Men and Women, are required to report to the venue by 7 am on the event day, with a photocopy of their Aadhar card. Weigh-ins and verification will take place from 7 am to 9 am and no wrestler will be allowed to participate after 9 am.
