JAMMU, Oct 8: 33rd Annual Prize Distribution Function of Tawi Trekkers was held at KL Saigal Hall, here today.
On this occasion a number of Sport climbers, mountaineers, institutions which promote adventure activities and prominent members of the club were honoured by the chief guest, Anjali Sharma, Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu and presiding guest, Ashwani Sharma, a former Legislator.
The main attraction of the Prize Distribution Function was Shivani Charak who brought laurels to the club and the state by winning two gold medals and one bronze medal in the North Zone Sport Climbing Championship held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation from 26th to 28th September, 2015.
Fourteen years old Shivani, a student of Shining Star Academy Muthi, Jammu was honoured with a medal, a memento and a gift.
Shilpa Charak who won three silver medals in the Girls category and Mrityunjay Sharma who clinched three bronze medals in the Boys category in the North Zone Competition were also honoured along with Aman Dogra and Asma Gul who secured a Silver medal each in the Boys and Sub Junior Girls category respectively in the same championship. Ajay Deep Singh of Shining Star Academy, Muthi, Jammu  and Renu Devi of National Academy Udhampur who won a silver and a bronze medal respectively in the Sub Junior Boys and Sub Junior Girls category were also felicitated.
The Dedication Award for the year 2015 was conferred upon the Board of Directors of Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu for their single minded dedication and devotion to promote trekking, mountaineering and allied activities in the state.
Everester  Ram Singh Slathia and Sonam Sidharth, Directors of J&K (Moungri ) and Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programmes organized  by the club during summer vacations were also honoured, who included Anil Kumar, Manik Slathia, Aman Arora, Puneet Sharma, Shashi Kant and Bhanu Partap Singh.
19 institutions were also awarded for their participation in club’s various activities along with 22 teachers who escorted various groups of trekkers during Moungri and Dharamshala Trekking Programes.
Earlier, Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary of the club, in her Annual report, highlighted the activities organised by the club so far during the year 2015.
Ram Khajuria, Sr. Vice President of the club read the welcome address, while Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary of the club presented the vote of thanks.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma Divisional Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council and Sanjeet Khajuria Assistant Director Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu, who were guests of honour on the occasion also distributed prizes and mementoes to the distinguished adventurers.
