33rd Boys, 17th Girls Sub Jr National Wrestling C’ship from June 29

JAMMU, June 23: The 33rd Boys and 17th Girls Sub Junior (Cadet) National Wrestling Championship will be held from June 29 to July 2, 2014 at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium in Srinagar. The Championship will be organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council.
This was disclosed by Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Youth Services and Sports while addressing media persons during a press conference, here today.
The conference was attended by Dushyant Sharma, president J&K Wrestling Association and former president of Wrestling Federation of India; Sidhart Sharma, joint secretary J&K State Sports Council; Narinder Mahajan, executive member of WFI; Ajay Vaid, general secretary J&K Wrestling Association; Vijay Sharma, Raju Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma and Surat Lal.
The Minister said that about 1200 participants including wrestlers, coaches, referees and delegates of WFI will participate in this Championship, adding that the State teams comprising of 30 wrestlers are also taking part in the Championship.
He said adequate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the Championship.
According to the organizers, the opening ceremony will be held on June 30 at 5 pm at the aforementioned, wherein Raman Bhalla, Minister for Sports will be the chief guest in the ceremony.
This is first of its kind wrestling event being held in the Valley.
