JAMMU, Apr 16: Crown Trust is going to organise 34th MPL National Under-10 Chess Championship for boys and girls under the aegis of All J&K Chess Association in association with J&K Sports Council from April 26 at Kangra Fort Banquet Hall Barnai, here.
It was disclosed by Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association while interacting with media persons at Press Club Jammu, here today. “The event will be held separately for boys and girls wherein a total of Rs five lakh cash prizes will be distributed among top 15 position holders in each category which is direct selection for forthcoming World, Asian and Commonwealth Chess Championships,” informed Gupta.
Around 500 persons from about 25 States including more than 200 players, coaches, managers, arbiters, and others are expected to participate in this event. The games on top 10 boards will be live on the internet worldwide with the help of DGT Boards. The event will be held as per FIDE Laws of Chess under Swiss System with Swiss Software wherein a total 11 rounds will be played in both boys and girls categories.
The members of the organising committee including Baldev Raj, Kuljeet Jamwal, Taranvir Singh Gujral, Dr AS Bhatia, Raj Kumar, Vikas Nanda and Rakesh Gupta were present during the press conference.
