JAMMU, Apr 27: The 34th MPL National Under-10 Chess Championship for Boys and Girls, organised by All J&K Chess Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council is going on with full swing at Kangra Fort Banquet Hall Barnai, here today.
Rudra Kavia and Rudradaman Mertia both from Rajasthan , while Mayukh Majumdar of West Bengal along with 8 other players are leading in open section with three points each, besides Maitreyi Mondal of West Bengal, Anaya Agarwal of Telangana and Hanya Shah of Gujarat along with five others are leading with three points each after three rounds of the ongoing championship.
The event is being supported by MPL Sports Foundation and Hob Space wherein about 500 persons including 245 players, coaches, managers, arbiters, live game operators and other various officials from 26 States are participating in the event.
A total 11 rounds will be played under the Swiss System which is a direct selection for World, Asian and Commonwealth events.
Dr. AS Bhatia, HoD Bio Sciences GMC Jammu, Raj Kumar, Chief Prosecution Officer, Baldev Raj, vice president AJKCA, Ajit Singh, Ranjeet Singh and Arvindu, District Association members, besides Advocate Himani Kohli were present during the championship.
Digvijay Singh Samkaria, owner of Kangra Fort is personally monitoring all the arrangements of the championship.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president AJKCA is Chairman of organizing committee, while Dr Vipnesh Bhardwaj (International Arbiter from Chandigarh) is chief arbiter of the event along with 10 other arbiters including Deputy chief arbiter Salim Beig from Karnataka and local arbiters from J&K.
