JAMMU, June 12: Over 350 people took part in a ‘Run for Thalassemia and ‘Say No to Tobacco’ marathon here this morning. The Marathon was organized by Gian Jyoti Group under the aegis of Gian Jyoti Educational Society in association with Max Super Speciality Hospital (MSSH), Mohali.
It was powered by Bari-Brahmana Rotary Club, Sharma Industries, Shree Agencies and Urban Farm, in order to raise awareness about ill effects of tobacco.
The marathon started at Bari-Brahmana and ended in Adda Sarore, Jammu in which students, faculty members of the institutions and general public of Jammu participated in large numbers.
Max Hospital, which is empanelled with Jammu and Kashmir Government for cashless treatment of both retired and serving Government employees and their families, was the healthcare partner of the Institute.
The chief guest on the occasion was Deputy Commissioner, Samba, R K Varma, who flagged off the marathon, while the guest of honour was Chander Prakash Ganga, senior vice president BJP, J&K.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Jai Ram Sharma, President Rotary Club Bari Brahmana, Sanjeev Sharma, vice president Rotary Club Bari Brahmana, Pawan Bakshi, Satish Sharma, Ashwani, Dr Gurdeep and Dr Aneet, Dean, Academics, Gian Jyoti Group.
The Group distributed T-shirts among the participants.
The prizes were given to first 50 students and participants.
Jagvinder S Thakur, Senior Lecturer, Gian Jyoti Group Chandigarh was the Coordinator of the event, while J S Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group was also present on the occasion.
