36th District Udhampur Volleyball C’ship held

UDHAMPUR, Dec 2: The 36th District Udhampur Boys & Girls Volleyball Championship was organized by the Volleyball Association of District Udhampur under the auspices of the Volleyball Association of J&K at the Volleyball Complex of SIKS Govt. Model HSS Boys, here today. The event was sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur (West), was the chief guest, and Dheeraj Jandial, District Treasury Officer Udhampur, served as the guest of honour. Manoj Kumar Sicon, Commandant, 137 Bn CRPF, was the special guest.
The event began with a welcome speech by Ashok Padha, President of the Volleyball Association, and an overview of the championship by Sunil Sharma, Organizing Secretary. He also highlighted the long-pending demand for an Indoor Multipurpose Complex at the school, which is already under process.
Pawan Kumar Gupta praised the association for organizing the event and promised to support the demand for an indoor stadium, emphasizing its necessity. The cultural program was presented by Princeton High School Garhi (Udhampur). The championship was supported by CRPF 137 Bn Udhampur, the administration of SIKS Govt. Model HSS Boys Udhampur, and Lions Club, who sponsored the trophies.
The final matches were officiated by Naveen Sharma, Sunil Khajuria, and Manik Nargotra. The event was conducted by Amit Sharma, a National Volleyball player, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Amit Chander Singh, General Secretary of the District Volleyball Association.
The winners and medallists were awarded cash prizes. The Girls’ final saw Ramnagar Volleyball Club ‘A’ defeated Ramnagar Volleyball Club ‘B’ by 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 25-15, 25-20). In the Boys’ final, City Volleyball Club triumphed over Udhampur Volleyball Club by 3-1 (25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23).
