JAMMU, Sept 30: The five-day 36th Sub-Junior (Boys & Girls) National Tenni-Koit Championship 2024 was inaugurated today at Green Field Play Ground, Jammu. Organized by the J&K Tenni-Koit Association under the aegis of the Tenni-Koit Federation of India and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, the event marks a significant moment for the sport in the region.
The championship was officially declared open by chief guest Shakti Pathak, Director of ACB J&K, while Mohd Hanief, Chief Sports Officer of the J&K Sports Council, graced the event as guest of honour. A number of distinguished figures, including Baldev Singh Balouria (Former Dy. Mayor JMC), Manish Gupta (Secretary, Chamber of Commerce Jammu), and other senior officials from the Tenni-Koit Federation of India, were present.
Rajeev Sharma, President of the Tenni-Koit Federation of India, welcomed the guests, players, and technical officials and acknowledged the efforts of all those involved in organizing the event. Shakti Pathak praised the efforts of the organizers, encouraging the youth to participate in sports to stay away from negative influences like drugs. A total of 21 States and Union Territories, with around 500 players and officials, are competing in the tournament. Matches will be held in 22+8 categories for both boys and girls. The event promises exciting competition over the next five days.
