37th Sub Junior National Softball C’ship underway; J&K seals berth in QF

JAMMU, Dec 21: Jammu and Kashmir made a stellar start in the 37th Sub Junior National Softball Championship, winning three consecutive league matches in the boys’ section to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. The girls’ team also shone brightly, defeating a strong Maharashtra side to enter the last eight stage. The Championship is being organized by the Softball Association of Jammu and Kashmir under the aegis of the Softball Association of India and J&K Sports Council, at MA Stadium, Jammu.
In the boys’ section, Jammu and Kashmir delivered exceptional performances. They crushed Haryana with a dominant 16-2 victory, followed by a 12-0 rout of Jharkhand. In their final league match, they triumphed over Chandigarh with a 9-1 scoreline, securing their place in the quarterfinals.
Other boys’ section results included Andhra Pradesh’s 1-0 win over Chandigarh, Kerala’s 10-0 win over Bihar, Chhattisgarh’s 10-0 victory over Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab’s 10-0 win over Gujarat, among others.
In the girls’ section, Jammu and Kashmir delivered a remarkable performance by defeating Maharashtra 4-1 to qualify for the quarterfinals. Other notable results in the girls’ section included Telangana’s 10-0 win over Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh’s 15-0 triumph over Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala’s 6-0 victory over Chhattisgarh.
