3rd District Table Tennis Championship concludes at Leh

Leh, Dec 14:The 3rd District Table Tennis Championship’2016 for senior men, women and under 17 boys & girls concluded at Indoor Stadium, here.
The fortnight long tournament was organized by Table Tennis Association District Leh in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports. As many as 60 players participated in the various categories.  On the concluding day, three match between finalists of Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s and U/17 boy category.
In the men’s doubles, Rinchen Angdu and Jamyang Dorjay played with Amjad Ali Khan and Siddhart Norbo and won the match in straight sets.
In women’s singles, Eshy Dolma played with Stanzin Angmo and Stanzin Angmo won the match in straight sets.
Under 17 Boys Thupstan Spalgas played with Abdul Rauf and Thupstan Spalgais won the match by 2:1 set win.
In the Men Single Sarfrash Ahmed played with Rinchen Angdu and Sarfarsh won the match.
Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa was the chief guest on the occasion and Councillor Lower Leh Phuntsog Wangdan Shunu was the guest of honour.
Congratulating the winners and encouraging the participants, CEC appreciated the Table Tennis Association District Leh and District Youth Services & Sports Officer Leh for taking the initiative in this sport.  Dr. Dawa assured that the infrastructural and other problems being faced by the players will be put forward for early redress. He also assured to complete sports stadium in near future for develop the sports in the district.
Presenting the welcome speech, District Youth Services and Sport officer Tsering Tashi mentioned about the tournament aimed at engaging youth in positive activities.
On the occasion, Councillors, President Anjuman Immamia Ashraf Ali Barcha, President Moni-Ul-Islam Dr Abdul Qayoom, President Christian reverent Dechen Chamga & numbers of TT sports enthusiast and sports lovers were also present.
CEC, EC and Councillor Lower Leh gave away the trophies to the winners and runners up in senior men’s, senior women’s, U/17 Girls single, and men doubles and U/17 boys doubles categories.
Sponsors of the tournament JCB Union, Truck Union, Bus Union and Hotel Grand Dragon and Taxi Union were felicitated.
