3rd Prof Pran Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament JCC Reds thrash DYSS by 239 runs

JAMMU, May 24: Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) Reds drubbed Director of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) XI by a huge margin of 239 runs to advance in the ongoing 3rd Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, JCC Reds rode on superb knocks from Mithun Manhas, Jasvinder Singh, Sandeep Singh and Siddarth Magotra to post a mammoth total of 316 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing all their wickets in the process. Jasvinder Singh played a brilliant innings of 77 runs off 86 balls with the help of superbly timed 8 boundaries, while IPL star Mithun Manhas smashed power-packed 60 runs in 43 balls including 9 crispy boundaries. Both of them simply butchered the DYSS bowlers and struck shots with elegance, grace and fluidity. Earlier, left-handed opening batsman Sidharth Magotra sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt and cracked 27-ball 38 runs with the help of 7 delectable fours, while wicket-keeper batsman Sandeep Singh made valuable 49 runs including 5 hits to the fence. For DYSS XI, left-arm spinner Jagtar Singh and medium pace Sameer Malik shared 3 wickets each, while Pankaj Sasun and Gurvinder Singh captured 2 wickets each.
In reply, DYSS XI bundled out for a paltry total of 77 runs, thus lost the match by a huge margin of 239 runs. Sameer Malik, Pankaj Sasun and Opinder Pal Singh were the only three batsmen to cross the double figure mark, scoring 11 runs each. JCC Reds’ speedsters Vishwajeet Singh and Rahil Singh wrecked havoc in the rival camp and plotted their collapse by claiming 3 wickets each. Vishwajeet conceded 22 runs in his 6 overs, while Rahil gave away 34 runs in his spell of 6 overs. Manjeet Singh and Deepak Dogra also played their part in the winning cause by claiming one wicket each.
