4 Army jawans killed, 10 injured in NH mishap

SAMBA, June 8: In a tragic accident, four Army jawans were killed while 10 others were injured after an Army vehicle which was on its way from Amritsar, Punjab to Akhnoor in Jammu district turned turtle at National Highway in Jatwal in Samba district this evening.
According to police, the Army vehicle bearing registration number 099E013454N was going to Akhnoor to participate in the gun drill competition there. Total 14 jawans were traveling in the vehicle.
Police said the driver lost the control on steering after reaching Jatwal due to which the vehicle turned turtle and fell down from the road in a ditch resulting into the death of four jawans on spot and injury to 10 others.
Soon after the accident the local people rushed to the spot to rescue the Army jawans.
Panic gripped Jatwal and surrounding villages after hearing the news of death of four jawans on duty. People in large number assembled at the accident site to rescue them.
Later, the senior police officers including SSP Samba, Joginder Kumar, DySP Headquarters, Virender Katal, SHO Ghagwal, Suraj Pathania and SDM, Ghagwal along with police reinforcement as well as senior Army officers from Samba Brigade along with jawans reached the spot to shift the dead to District Hospital Samba while the injured were taken to MH Hospital Samba for treatment.
Police said among the injured the condition of three jawans was stated to be critical.
The dead bodies were kept in mortuary of District Hospital Samba while the injured are undergoing treatment at MH Samba.
Army has decided to shift the injured to nearby MH for specialized treatment by late tonight after giving the emergency treatment at MH Samba.
The dead bodies after postmortem at SDH Samba tomorrow will be handed over to Army which will later take them to their respective native places.
The Ghagwal Police has registered a case under Section 304 A -RPC under FIR Number 53. The Army will also investigate the cause of accident.
The deceased were identified as Lance Naik Sanjay Kumar Rai, Lance Naik Murli Manohar Babu, Naik Abhishek and Sanjay Grotn.
The injured were Hav Kamlesh Singh,40, Vikash Bakshi, 33, Naik Sanjay Rai,32, Sepoy Vikesh Sharna,30, Lance Naik Naresh Kumar, 31, Naik Suryakant Gandhi, 30, Lance Naik Bharat Sudhiya, 24, Sepoy Shankar Kumar, 30, Sepoy Sanjay Chanakya, Sepoy Gamer Bsheik.
