4 excavators involved in illegal mining seized in Reasi

REASI, Jan 11: To curb the menace of illegal mining, the district administration today launched robust exercise across the district and seized several vehicles.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Charandeep Singh teams of Revenue officers and police laid down nakas at various locations of the district. The teams seized 4 excavators involved in illegal mining and one tipper carrying minor minerals without valid documents.
It was an entire day exercise wherein teams comprising of civil administration and police officials visited all the operational mining blocks and checked their records. The teams also checked the enforcement of notified rates of minor minerals and advised consumers to purchase minerals from legal sources only and stay away from illegal miners.
Pertinent to mention here that this exercise was in continuance to adminstration’s tough attitude against defaulters. Earlier also, action has been taken against the mining blocks violating the Government directions.
Moreover, the general public was appealed to inform the control room established by the district administration in case of any issue pertaining to mining in the areas, exorbitant rates etc and immediately report to district administration about any forceful action and violation of mining rules under MM(D&R) Act-1957 and SRO -105.
