4 killed, 19 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Jan 21: Four persons were killed, while ninteen others were injured in road accidents at different locations.
As per reports, a 7th standard student was among two persons killed, while two others were injured, when a mini-bus they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Sandrani area of the district.
The ill-fated mini-bus bearing registration number JK02X-3698 was on its way to holy town Katra from Jib Morh, when the driver lost the control over the vehicle, which later plunged into gorge near Government High School, Sandrani, causing grievous injuries to four persons.
On getting information, police, Army and locals rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation and shifted the injured to PHC Tikri, where doctors declared two of them identified as a 7th standard student Vikram Singh, son of Govind Singh of Sandrani and Ravi Kumar, son of Lashi Ram of Danu as brought dead.
Later, the two injured persons identified as Varun Sharma, son of Rajinder Kumar of Sunari and Ashwani, son of Romesh Kumar of Sandrani were shifted to District Hospital Udhampur, where their condition was stated to be out of danger, when last reports came in.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered and investigation started.
In another accident, a pedestrian was killed, while four others including three CRPF jawans were injured in road accident near Military Hospital in District Udhampur.
The driver of a CRPF vehicle lost control over it and hit two pedestrians and later turned turtle. In the accident, five persons including three CRPF personnel were injured and were shifted to District Hospital, Udhampur.
At DH, doctors declared pedestrian Mohd Iqbal, son of Mohd Safi of Manpur, Srinagar as brought dead, while the condition of other pedestrian identified as Manzoor Ahmed of Mattan was stated to be stable, when last reports came in.
A case has been registered at Udhampur police station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and one another was injured, when a mini-bus (JK02T-3454), they were traveling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge near Talpad in district Udhampur.
The deceased was identified as Madan Lal, son of Fakeer Chand of Dassan.
A case has been registered and investigation started.
Twelve students were injured, when the auto they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Gurdan Bala.
The Tata Magic vehicle bearing registration number JK11-4774, attached with Convent School Rajouri was on its way to school from Gurdan Bala, when the driver lost his control over the vehicle, which later plunged into 100-feet deep gorge, causing injuries to twelve students.
On getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot, started rescue operation and shifted the injured students to hospital, from where two students were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for advance treatment.
In this regard, a case has been registered and investigation started.
