SRINAGAR : Four residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here today while ten Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition. As many as 22 returnees also crossed sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector in north Kashmir, official sources told. They said four PoK residents, including a woman, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot this afternoon. However, there was no POK guest in last bus.
Sources said 15 Kashmiris who had gone to PoK returned to their homes after completing their stay across the border. Ten residents of Kashmir, including four women and a child, crossed over to other side of the LoC in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of POK since April 7,2005. Sources said seven PoK residents, who had come here in previous buses, also returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir. They included three women and a child.
The bus service has helped thousands of families, divided in 1947 to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects from both sides on ” Travel Permits” instead of International Passports. (AGENCIES)
