JAMMU, Jan 25: Union Ministry of Home Affairs has awarded 41 police officers/officials of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Republic Day. The State Government has also announced Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medals for Gallantry and Meritorious services to the police officials.
Constable Daler Singh (posthumously) was the lone awardee of President’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
Mohammad Sulaiman Salaria, IGP Personnel and Jagdish Lal Sharma, SSP CID (Special Branch), Jammu were awarded President’s Police Medal for Gallantry. Mr Salaria had served as DIG Vigilance and CID and held important posts at Kishtwar, Samba, Udhampur, Jammu, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri and Kupwara.
JL Sharma had held crucial assignments as SSP Samba, Kathua, SSP Reasi, SSP CID and SP City South etc. He had also served as United Nations assignment at Kosovo.
Seventeen police officers, who have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Services included Gareeb Dass, DIG Doda-Ramban range, who had earlier served as SSP Kathua and SSP Kargil besides DIG (CIV) in Police Headquarters, Danish Rana, DIG Rajouri-Poonch range, Vijay Kumar, DIG Anantnag range, Rafiq-ul-Hassan, SSP Srinagar, Manzoor Ahmad Shorie, SSP Tech Headquarters, Jammu, Mukhtar Ahmad Shah, Joint Director (Prosecution), Vikram Singh, DySP SSG, Jammu and Kashmir, who has earlier been decorated with President’s Gallantry Medal, Police Medal for Gallantry, President Medal for Meritorious Services and DGP’s Commendation Medal, Sudershan Kumar Bakshi, DySP SDRF, 2nd Battalion.
Shuja Ahmad Latoo, DySP Srinagar, Jugal Kishore Sharma, DySP IRP 17th battalion, who had earlier served as DySP Katra and SDPO Border Kathua, Rano Devi, DySP IRP13th battalion, Abdul Khaliq, DySP Headquarters Leh, Mohammad Iqbal Khan, Inspector Railways, Altaf Ahmad Dar, Inspector Security, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, SI URP 2nd battalion, Abdul Gani, SI Police Headquarters and Swarn Singh, Head Constable, SKPA Udhampur.
Police Medal for Gallantry have been awarded to Vidhi Kumar Birdi, Superintendent of Police, Haseeb-ur-Rehman, Addl. Superintendent of Police, Noor-ul- Hassan, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Amjid Khan, Follower, Waseem Ahmad, Sub Inspector, Mohd Shafi Mir, Addl Superintendent of Police, Raj Kumar, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Mohd Khursheed Wani, SG. Constable, Rishi Kumar, Follower, late Morifath Hussain, SG. Constable (Posthumously), Showkat Ahmed, SG Constable, Syed Gowhar, Constable , Muneer Ahmed, Constable, late Stanzin Narboo, Sub Inspector (Posthumously), late Ghulam Hassan Gojjar, Constable (Posthumously), Yougal Manhas, (1st BAR to PMG), Addl. Superintendent of Police, Vivek Gupta, Addl. Superintendent of Police, Sikander Hussain, Follower, Azhar Bashir, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Mohd Alyas, Sub Inspector and Mohd Ayaz, Constable.
The State Government announced Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry to Zubair Ahmed Khan, SP (Operations) Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad, Head Constable Abdul Ahad Malik, Follower Handwara and Gulzar Hussain, Head Constable.
Besides the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medal for Meritorious Service was awarded to H. K. Lohia, IGP Director SSG, J&K, Deepak Kumar, IGP State Vigilance Organisation, Shahzada Parveen, DySP PCR, Srinagar and Tasaduq Hussain Shah, ASI (STC Sheeri).
