REASI, Dec 12: In the continuous drive of tightening noose around drug mafia, Reasi Police today seized 42 Kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled in a truck.
The truck (JK02S 0939) was intercepted by a Police party of PP Talwara, near Check Post Kans Khasan, when it was on its way towards Reasi from Talli Morh side. Driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot leaving behind the vehicle. 42 kg poppy straw in 39 packets was found concealed in the vehicle.
During preliminary investigation, identity of the truck driver was established as Mohd Yonus alias Puttu, son of Ab Rashid of Kans Khansan, Reasi. In this regard, case FIR number 202/19, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Reasi.
