46 bovine animals rescued

KATHUA, Aug 19: People thwarted two smuggling bids of bovine animals and rescued 46 bovine animals at two separate places in Kathua district late last night.
According to reports, six bovine animals were rescued by mob at village Pansar and Chanlaldin late last night who were being smuggled to Srinagar in a Mohindra Pick up van bearing registration number JK083-5459.
The people after seeing the vehicle stopped it and rescued the bovines. They later informed the Police Post Mareen who seized the vehicle and animals. The driver and smugglers managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
The 40 other bovine animals were rescued which were being smuggled by foot to Punjab via Pahadpur area of Kathua district by people late last night and handed over to Police Naka Party at Pahadpur. However the smugglers managed to escape in darkness.
The police has registered the cases in both smuggling cases under relevant sections of the law.
